KARE Savings Calculations
Making sure that your shifts are covered is important. Equally important is controlling your cost. Sending shifts to KARE Heroes is typically a better option than a shift covered by an employee in overtime or sending the shift to an agency.
The savings calculation is based on average rates for the license and role of the shift. See below for the full calculation and rates.
KARE Versus Overtime Savings
To find the total amount saved using KARE versus employees on overtime, we find the total expense of having a W-2 employee on overtime or total expense of sending a shift to an agency based on the shift length and subtract it from the total expense of using KARE for a shift.
Overtime Calculation
To find the costs of having a W-2 employee on overtime, we use the following factors per hour:
- Average hourly cost of the employee license type in your market
- Premium overtime multiplier
- Payroll taxes (FICA, FUTA, SUTA)
- Workers compensation
- Paid time off
- Payroll fees
Agency Calculation
To find the costs of sending a shift to Agency, we use the following factors per hour:
- Average Agency Hourly Billed Rate per Role
- If no Average Hourly Billed Rate is included for any agencies in your Community Settings, we use the W-2 employee avreage hourly cost of the employee license type in your market and multiply by a premium number.
Average Expense per Hour
This takes the total expense on KARE divided by the number of hours worked in a specific time frame. For therapy, assume 1 session = 1 hour.
Total Shifts Worked
This includes all shifts that have been verified or paid by the community.
Where do our W-2 employee costs come from?
To collect tax data, we look at a mix of sources to create the most accurate representation of costs.
Who can I contact about my savings?
While we are confident that the costs of using KARE will be exponentially lower than using in house employees on overtime, there may be a few cases where savings amounts are not where you expect. If needed, you can contact the NASTi Support team to get more information.
